A Brief Introduction to the RUC Alumni Office
Established in July 2001, the RUC Alumni Office aims to strengthen the contact between alumni, to foster the spirit of loving our university, to explore alumni resources in seeking social support, and raising funds for the construction and development of the RUC. Ever since its establishment, the office has collected information on alumni. In October 2002, a data bank was set up and so far more than 100,000 entries have been made. In January 2003, the office published a periodical, RUC Alumni, and so far four editions have been issued. In December 2003, the RUC alumni web has been in operation (www.renda.org.cn). In addition to that, the office has also sent out brief reports and published Outstanding RUC Alumni,a special issue 20th anniversary of graduation monograph Glory and Expectations, and Reminiscences of Alumni, volumes I and II.
The Alumni Office has been active in maintaining close relations with provincial and municipal (including Hong Kong) alumni branches. The Shaanbei Public School, North China United University, and overseas alumni associations in North America, Japan, and South Korea also carry out activities under the guidance of the RUC Alumni Office.
The office has planned and organized seminars and forums on different scales and in various forms. These activities, covering a wide range of topics, have been well received by the alumni.
Great efforts have also been made to help the University to open up and introduce new sources of funds, to promote the development of the University.
Since its establishment four years ago, the office has done a sterling job, and has been highly praised by the university, alumni, and fellow universities. Accordingly, in 2003, the office was awarded the "Excellent Performance in Alumni Affairs at Institutions of Higher Learning"citation.
