Campus Information Card
Called the "Campus Card" for short, and uniformly issued by the university, the RUC Campus Information Card possesses information and financial functions. It is the only electronic ID card that combines "all-in-one" functions. The Campus Information Card Project is made up of an information processing and exchange platform, two basic data management systems (the financial processing and settlement system, and the campus card management system) and four applied services systems (the door controller system, the campus card consumption system, the campus card-based network charging system, and the WEB searching system. The RUC was the first to introduce the double-interface CPU card technology into campus card applications in universities in China. Higher in capacity and safer than the M1 card technology widely employed by other universities, the double-interface CPU card technology is the future trend of card applications. Partly integrating the second generation ID card technology in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Security, the RUC campus card also possesses social application functions. The card can be used in the dining halls, canteens, shops, department stores, and the gyms. The card can presently also be used in the library, the hospital, as ID certification, with the water-control system, small-amount financial settlements, and the door controller systems of some buildings. The card is expected to be valid for a much greater range of activities after the completion of the second stage of the project
The RUC campus card is truly an "All-In-One Card", and it is expected to replace all the traditional certificate and payment systems. It will make possible the facilitation of the many forms of consumption that take place at the university, student information management, ID certification, online payment, and so on. No keys or other certificates will be needed in any buildings on the future campus of the RUC, because a legitimate bearer of the campus card will have easy access to all places authorized according to his/her identity.
