Israeli ambassador to China visits Renmin

As a part of the “Israeli culture week” series activities, Israeli ambassador to China H.E. Mr. Amos Nadai visited Renmin and gave a lecture on the afternoon of 28 May, 2008.

 

 

Prof. Yuan Wei, Senior Vice President of Renmin, Prof. Chen Yulu, Vice President of Renmin met with the guests. Prof. Yuan warmly welcomed the ambassador. He said, Renmin and Israel had a long-standing good relationship. Renmin had kept imitate co-operation with Tel Aviv University, Ben-Gurion University and University of Haifa in Israel. Mr. Nadai thanked for Renmin to provide him with the opportunity to give lecture. He recalled last year when he came to Renmin for its 70 anniversary celebration with pleasure. Mr. Nadai expressed his great sorrow and sympathy to the earthquake-hit area in China’s Sichuan Province. He said, president of Israel called him at the earliest time to ask about the latest situation of disaster area. The telephone in his office did not stop ringing for many Israeli people called to concern about quake-hit region. Mr. Nadai believed the Chinese people would overcome difficulties and reconstruct their homeland. Also, he promised Israel will offer any possible assistance to China.

 

 

Prof. Yuan and Mr. Nadai exchanged ideas on the history and current situations of China and Israel. Both of them thought the two countries had quite a few similarities and reached amazing achievements after about 50-year development.

 

After the meeting, Mr. Nadai visited the Exhibition on History of China and Israel Friendship accompanied by Professor Chen in the university library.

 

 

Afterwards, Mr. Nadai delivered a speech to about 100 students and faculties of Renmin, concerning the modern history of Israel and the social and economic development in last 60 years since its founding in 1948. The audiences raised a few questions with regard to Middle East situation, China-Israel co-operation as well as cultural exchange, and had a pleasant interaction with Mr. Nadai.
