Government Officials From 29 Countries Visit Renmin

About 50 officials from 29 developing countries visited Renmin as one stop of “Government Officials of Developing Countries for Chinese Training Project” on 16th May, 2008.

 

Senior Vice Chairman of the University Council, Prof. Niu Weilin attended the welcome meeting and gave a vivid introduction of Renmin by video. Prof. Yang Huilin, Dean of School of Liberal Arts briefed the cultural exchange and Chinese language promotion work of Renmin. Prof. Tang Zhong, Director of International Office hosted the meeting.

 

Afterwards, the delegates took a closer look at Renmin. They visited Cisco Telepresence Studio, Moot Court, Computer Center, Exhibition of Renmin’s History, and library. They were so interested in the visiting program that the expected time had to be prolonged time and time and again.

 

In the afternoon, the delegates had a warm conversation with international students of Renmin. They exchanged ideas on how to cope with “cultural shock” and get use to living in Renmin. Also, they showed great interest in the admission of international students.

 

The Chinese project is launched by the Ministry of Commerce of China. The delegates are all government officials in the area of education and culture. During their one-month stay in China, they could indulge themselves in Chinese language and culture.
