International Students of Renmin Donate for Earthquake-hit Region

“I felt very upset when I heard that Sichuan Province of China was hit by a serious earthquake and people’s lives and properties were suffered from huge devastation. I want to do something to help the sufferers.” Gina Caballero Alex Selishchev, one of the international students of Renmin University of China said. 

 

On the early morning of 16, May, Gina and her friends set a desk in front of the International Students Building for donation. Four Vietnam students were the first to donate. They put 3600 RMB in the donation box on behalf of 42 Vietnam students. As time went by, more and more international students of Renmin joined the donation to express care and love for the quake-hit area. Some students left best wishes on the poster. “Don’t be sad. All adversities are temporary and tomorrow will be better.” “Don’t cry, Children. I’ll prey for you, bless you.” Although in different languages, the words presented the same sincere concern and love. Impressed by the international students, some Chinese students and taxi-drivers went by also participated in the donation. Wherever you come from, whatever you do, at this time, all hearts go together and all minds feel near.

 

When the donation was over, accompanied by officials from the International Students Office, eight representatives of the international students came to the office of China Foundation For Poverty Alleviation and handed over a total mount of 9198.2 RMB donation. Vice Secretary-General met with the students and expressed truly gratitude to them. Reporters from CCTV covered the donation event. As for the relief, Gina praised, “Premier Wen Jiaobao is great. He is a very good premier.”
