On April 25, 2008, President Prof. Ji Baocheng met with two delegations respectively from Victoria University in Canada, and Chonbuk National University in Korea. Chairman of University Council Prof. Cheng Tianquan met with the delegation from Tilburg University in Holland.

Firstly, President of Renmin, Prof. Ji Baocheng had a friendly talk with Dr. David H. Turpin, President of Victoria University. Prof. Ji warmly welcomed the delegation and gave an introduction on the academic and international affairs of Renmin. Prof. Ji said by signing the agreement today, the two universities would start co-operation from Business and Law. He hoped the co-operation would be followed by further collaboration on Environmental Science and Physics. Prof. Ji said that the contemporary world requested much co-operation and consultation on culture. And Renmin University served as a window for the outside to know about China and Chinese culture.

Dr. Turpin thanked for Prof. Ji’s hospitality. He thought Renmin and Victoria University shared a lot of things in common and he expected the two universities would from now on start a close relationship.

After the talk, Prof. XU Erming, Associate Dean from Graduate School and Dr. James P. Anglin, Associate Vice President, Academic and Student Affairs, signed the memorandum on behalf the two parties.

Then Prof. Ji met with a delegation from Chonbuk National University in Korea. The two universities have been in a good relationship for five years. Prof Ji anticipated more professor visits and student exchanges between the two sides.

Prof. Xu Juxi, President of Chonbuk National University said it was their honor to co-operate with Renmin. Also, he expected more help and matured experiences from Renmin.

Later the same day, Prof. Cheng Tianquan met with Prof. Frank van der Duyn Schouten, Vice-Chancellor (rector) of Tilburg University in Holland and Prof Philip Eijlander, Dean Faculty of Law and incoming Vice Chancellor as from the end of this year. The leaders of the two universities had a conversation on the execution of the memorandum signed in 2005 between the two sides in detail and showed the interest to expand the bilateral collaboration in the near future.
